Toronto close to signing Dickov, Huckerby

Paul Dickov
Toronto FC are reportedly close to deal with Paul Dickov, and a negotiations with Darren Huckerby might not be far behind.

Both players are unattached, as Dickov left Manchester City and Huckerby was released by Norwich City following the 2007-08 season. Dickov was also targeted by Blackpool where he was on loan last season, but after training with TFC, he appears ready to sign with MLS instead.

Fellow Scotsman Mo Johnston, director of soccer for TFC, was impressed with the 35-year-old's work ethic in training and is excited at the prospect of bringing the experienced striker on board. DIckov scored six goals in 11 appearances for Blackpool.

Meanwhile, English winger/striker Darren Huckerby is also interested in a move to MLS's Great White North, but there are questions about how the injury-prone 32-year-old's legs will hold up on BMO's turf field. Huckerby was released by Norwich after five years of employment. He was named Player of the Year for Norwich in 2005 and 2007.
