MLS midweek: I-95, Texas draws

DC United 2-2 New England (Gillette Stadium)

New England probably should have lost this match in the first half, if not for some nice netminding by Matt Reis. Reigning MLS MVP Luciano Emilio scored only his third goal of the year finishing off a rebound from Clyde Simms shot with a diving header to start the scoring in the 14th minute. Fred made it 2-0 DC finishing off a rebound after Emilio and Jaime Moreno peppered Reis' goal in the 53rd. But Adam Cristman pulled one back six minutes later after a whiffed clearance by Fred found its way to Kheli Dube who slotted for Cristman. Dube than found equalizer for the Revs in the 72nd minute after a Steve Ralston cross to the far post was headed back to the six by Jeff Larentowicz where Dube headed it in.

Houston 2-2 FC Dallas (Pizza Hut Park)

FC Dallas' Kenny Cooper took his frustrations at being left off the roster for USA v ENG by blasting a hard shot from the left of goal inside the far post in the first half. Corey Ashe equalized eight minutes into the second half, cleaning up a ball left by Brian Ching after the Hawaiian made a nice spin move to collect and drop the ball to the trailing Ashe. A textbook header by Drew Moor off a Andre Rocha corner put Dallas on top again. And it looked as if they might collect the full three points, until the 80th minute when a push by Dallas' Marcelo Saragosa set off hothead Eddie Robinson who, in turn, shoved Saragosa to the turf and received a red card. In the ensuing scuffle, Rocha received his second yellow card and was also sent off. With each side at 10 men, space opened up for each side, but it was the Dynamo's Dwayne DeRosario, two-and-a-half minutes into extra time, who found the equalizer, finishing off a rebound from a Brian Ching header.

Robinson vs. Saragosa, like a couple of kids on a playground...
